In the area of Pointe a la Hache, an oil spill has occurred. The oil came from the production facilities operated by Bass Enterprises Production Company.

The oil has spread between the Mississippi River and the back levee and a few miles up and down the road. Many homes and businesses in this area have had damage to their property due to oil pollution.

As a result of the damages, a Class Action Complaint has been filed on behalf of the residents and businesses in the affected area. The case was filed in the United States District Court - Eastern District (New Orleans) and is entitled "August and Dorothy Tinson, Trent Tinson, Sr., Robin Thomas, and Caffie Narcisse Riley and all those similarly situated whom they represent Class Representatives versus Bass Enterprises Production Co.. The persons named are the class representatives.
