Port Sulphur Oil Pollution Site
In the upper area of Port Sulphur (Potash), an oil spill has occurred. The oil came from the production facility operated by Sundown Energy, LP that has been known by some as the Slater oil site.
The oil has spread between the Mississippi River levee and the back levee and a few miles up and down the road. Many homes and businesses in this area have been damaged due to oil pollution.
As a result of the damages, a Class Action Complaint has been filed on behalf of the residents and businesses in the affected area. The case was filed in the United States District Court - Eastern District (New Orleans) and is entitled "Roy and Margaret Blanchard, Christopher and Glenda Jenkins, individually and as the owners of the Cajun Kitchen of Plaquemines, Inc., I.F. Hingle, Jr (Jiff) and Kathleen and Allen Ketnor versus Sundown Energy, LP." The persons named are the class representatives.
