Things To Do Now
In order to assist us with your claim in the oil pollution cases as well as your own insurance/FEMA claims you should do the following:
Take photographs of your damaged property. Shoot both closeups and distance shots. When developing get at least 2 prints made and a CD can be helpful to allow us to use it for computer applications.
Take videos of your damaged property. Be careful to cover the area slowly so that all damages can be seen.
If possible, save any personal items or mementoes that have oil on them. Save them in a plastic bag or ziplock bags. Affix tape or paper to the outside with your name, date and describe items inside of it.
Keep a copy of your housing/living expenses that you have incurred as a result of not being able to return to your home or business.
Keep a copy of anything submitted to your insurance carrier or FEMA.
BE CAREFUL, SAFETY FIRST. When going onto your property be careful where you walk. You may need a pair of boots, gloves, a change of clothes and a large garbage bag to place them in after you have gone onto your property. Remember, you and your families well being is most important.
